Created as part of the BFI x BMW Filmmaking Challenge and mentored by Michaela Coel, Riceball is a tender animated short directed by Kristina Pringle.
The film follows a British-East Asian schoolgirl who hesitates to bring her home-cooked lunch to school, fearing ridicule for being different. It’s a heartfelt reflection on identity, belonging, and quiet resilience - premiered at the London Film Festival 2023 and currently on its festival run.
Brought on by Everyday Studio and working alongside filmmaker Kristina Pringle and the animator Inari Sirola, I contributed to the animation of 'Riceball', roughing out and artworking every sequence in Animate.
Riceball is a quiet but powerful reminder of the bravery it takes to simply be yourself. I’m proud to have been part of this beautifully personal project, and excited to see where it continues to travel as it connects with audiences around the world.
